We’re excited to welcome Doug Maxeiner, DC to the Central Ohio Spine and Joint team! With more than two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Doug brings a thoughtful, systems-based approach to chiropractic care—helping patients transition seamlessly from the clinic to the gym and, ultimately, back to the activities they love.

A Background Built for Problem-Solving

Dr. Doug graduated from Logan University in 2000 after earning his undergraduate degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Missouri–St. Louis. That engineering foundation shapes the way he evaluates movement, identifies the true source of pain, and designs plans that actually work in real life—not just on paper. His care blends clear reasoning with practical coaching so patients understand the why behind every step.

Soft Tissue First: A Passion for Better Movement

Dr. Doug has a deep, long-standing passion for soft tissue treatment, including extensive experience with Active Release Technique (ART), to address tissue restrictions, improve mobility, and reduce pain. Rather than relying on a single technique, he integrates precise hands-on care into a comprehensive plan that also includes corrective exercise and capacity building—so improvements last.

Why soft tissue care matters: It can reduce adhesions, restore normal tissue glide, and set the stage for better movement patterns—critical steps before loading exercises or returning to sport.

Focused Expertise for Active Lifestyles

While he’s comfortable treating a wide range of musculoskeletal issues, Dr. Doug has completed advanced post-graduate training across:

  • Rehabilitation of common MSK and sports injuries
  • Running and endurance athletes (hip/knee pain, tendon overload, cadence/form)
  • Dance medicine (control, turnout demands, foot/ankle mechanics)
  • Racket sports (shoulder/elbow load management, rotational control)

Whether you’re managing a nagging knee, a stubborn hip, or recurring shoulder tightness, Dr. Doug’s approach is built to reduce symptoms and improve how you move—so you can keep doing what you love.

Clinic → Gym: The COSJ Advantage

One reason we’re thrilled to have Dr. Doug at COSJ is how naturally he fits our integrated model. His style mirrors our Repair → Retrain → Reinforce process:

  • Repair: Calm pain and address mobility/soft-tissue limitations with targeted manual therapy and movement-friendly modifications.
  • Retrain: Re-educate movement patterns—hip hinge, split stance, single-leg control—so joints load efficiently and symptoms stay quiet.
  • Reinforce: Build durable strength and capacity in our gym environment, progressing from foundational strength to power and return-to-sport demands.

That clinic-to-gym continuity is where patients often see the biggest breakthroughs. It’s not just about feeling better for a week—it’s about building a body that stays better.

What Patients Can Expect with Dr. Doug

  • A clear plan: Assessment that identifies root causes—not just chasing where it hurts.
  • Hands-on + exercise: Soft tissue treatment paired with corrective strength and control.
  • Measurable progress: Simple benchmarks so you can see and feel improvement.
  • Confidence in motion: Coaching that makes daily life, work, and sport feel easier and safer.

Who He Helps

  • Active adults with hip, knee, shoulder, or back pain who want a long-term solution
  • Endurance and field/court athletes returning from overuse or tissue-tolerance issues
  • Dancers and performers who need precision control and resilient tissue capacity
  • Anyone who’s “tried everything” and is ready for a plan that bridges rehab and performance
